Summer Reading Program
Our 2024 Reading Program theme is…. Adventure!
More information on the Summer Reading Program:
Signing up:
To sign up your kiddos for this splendid program you first have to make sure that they are within the age requirements. – Age requirements: Birth through just completed 5th grade
Next you will need to obtain a library card here in Dallas County. You will come in and ask the staff to sign up your kid(s) and they will give you a sheet to fill out. Then you are DONE!
Reading Logs:
Reading logs are what we use to track how much your child has been reading or how much you read to them. We always wanna keep those numbers up for them to have a great imagination and insight to literature! Each child receives a reading log sheet on June 6th (the first day of summer reading). These logs can be picked up and dropped off any time throughout the duration of the program.
Once your child completes a reading log they will receive a prize! The more reading logs they turn in the bigger the prizes will be!
Program Details:
The program will be held from June 6th throughout July 25th. The program will have story-times and crafts every Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the library, unless otherwise noted differently. Our special guests will be held at Calvary Chapel Free Will Church (with signs to guide you). – June 13th: Missouri Department of Conservation – July 2nd: Story-time and craft ( We will be closed for the 4th so it has been moved to the previous Tuesday) – July 11th: Marty the Magician, Magic Show – July 18th: Dickerson Park Zoo
If you do not want to attend the story time or craft hour then you are more than welcome to skip it and still turn in your reading logs. If you have any questions please contact us at (417)345-2647 OR visit us at 219 W. Main St, Buffalo MO
